Aikido Shimbokukai welcomes Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan, 7 Dan and Lisa Tomoleoni Shihan, 6 Dan for our Autumn Seminar at Zanshin Aikido School in Independence, Missouri (near Kansas City, MO). Aikido practitioners of any style and affiliation are welcome! Training will be in-person and there will also be a virtual option available.
The format of this seminar will be a “Two Views” format, in that all classes will be co-taught by both instructors, presenting variations of techniques one right after the other. This unique presentation offers attendees the opportunity to experience the many shifts within each technique and the connections between variations of techniques.
In addition to the classes co-taught by Ikeda Shihan and Tomoleoni Shihan, we will also have two special classes- Bill Witthar Sensei (5 Dan and Chief Instructor of Zanshin Aikido) will teach a weapons class and Leigh English Sensei (Judo 7 Dan) will teach a Judo groundwork class.
The seminar will be held October 6-8, 2023, at Zanshin Aikido, inside of EPIC Sports Lodge, 19310 E 50th Terrace, Independence, MO 64055.

Friday October 6, 6:00-7:30 pm Aikido with Ikeda Shihan & Tomoleoni Shihan
Saturday October 7, 9:30-10:30 am Judo with English Sensei, 10:30 am-12:30 pm & 3:30-5:30 pm Aikido with Ikeda Shihan & Tomoleoni Shihan
Sunday October 8, 9:30-10:30 am Weapons with Witthar Sensei, 10:30 am-12:o0 pm Aikido with Ikeda Shihan & Tomoleoni Shihan
There are a variety of options for participation-
- Participate live; in-person training at Zanshin Aikido.
- Participate virtually with your dojo mates from your dojo. For those who can gather and train together, please plan to attend the seminar from your dojo! Set up a computer, stream the event, and train!
- Participate virtually on your own from your home, or any location of your choice.
Please register using the STORE link above in the header. We will also be accepting walk-in registrations. Registration for the seminar is US$150 for in person participation for all days, $75 for in person Saturday only, $50 for in person Friday OR Sunday only, and US$50 for virtual participation. Please note that the Zoom link for virtual attendance will be sent to the email address used for registration two days before the start of the seminar. Also note that the virtual option, just like the in person option, is for one person per registration. For those with financial constraints please let us know as we have some scholarship options available.
